Sociology program

Philosophy of the Department

The philosophy of the Sociology program is to develop critical thinkers who understand social structures, human behavior, and societal transformations. Our curriculum integrates classical sociological theories with contemporary research methods to analyze social phenomena, inequalities, and development challenges.

We emphasize empirical research, ethical inquiry, and practical applications of sociological knowledge. The program aims to produce graduates who can contribute to social policy, community development, and organizational transformation while addressing pressing societal issues in Nigeria and globally.

"Sociology is the study of human social relationships and institutions."

— Anthony Giddens
